Day 3. Zubiri- Pamplona
Another day on the Camino. It's going to very warm today so most of set off before 06.00 in order to miss the worst of the heat.
I can't pre book accommodation, it's all taken, so it's a wing and a prayer job. My hope is to get to a Municipal Albergue (which you are not allowed to pre book) before they fill up. I'm not the fastest of walkers in these conditions, so it is a worry.
More hills, up and down to aggravate my knee, but there was some nice countryside to stroll though as well.
A lot of road work, which is horrible...
I got lost about 4km from Pamplona, I missed a sign and ended up God knows where. My Camino Map App told me I was parallel to the main route and I was too far to retrace my steps. I came across a river and headed West (always head west) along a pretty river bank.
And I entered Pamplona from a slightly different angle. Oh well.
Continuing into the City centre, I chanced my arm at a Private Albegue and they had one bed left! Mine for €18.
Bought food from a supermarket and heated it up in the Albergue Pilgrim kitchen. Some sort of local sausage and a salad.
Here's my room. Top bunk surrounded by chattering Koreans. Reminds me...I really need to sleep.
Total walked so far is 66km. No blisters. I fancy a short day tomorrow. We'll see what happens!
Thanks for tuning in. Buen Camino!
Dia Tres Frankie brilliant going, despite going slightly off piste! To be quite frank Frank, those beds look brutal I expect exhaustion is the only way you'd ever get any sleep. Enjoy your sausage salad and get an early shut eye xx
ReplyDeleteThe beds are surprisingly comfortable Fi and the Peregrinos are fairly respectful of somebody sleeping. Except Koreans, with their non stop jibber jabber. ××
DeleteWell done Frank.
ReplyDeleteShame about the cheap Albergue being full (All them pilgrims that set off at 6am!!)
Bunks full of Koreans!!! What on earth is going on 😂
Have a day off tomorrow and chill out in Pamplona. Book in a cheap Albergue before they get full and off you go again after a good nights sleep.
Hark at me giving advice from the comfort of my armchair 😂
Keep up the great work x
Cheers Steve. I'm considering a late start, a walk across Pamplona after breakfast and walk no more than 10km today, there are a couple of Albergues in Zariquiegui a couple of km before the Hill of Pardons. I'll see how I feel in twenty minutes, when I get up!
ReplyDeleteGriff: Looking abit red in the face bro 😂 Ya doing a grand job...
ReplyDeleteThat's because it's a tough gig bro. You'd love it. ❤️
